@pyuppie A 1660 ti shouldn't be maxed out running Sims 4, at least not if you're playing at a reasonable resolution. What res are you using in-game? You can see it with the other graphics options.
In that same location, please also try playing with vertical sync enabled. This only applies in fullscreen mode.
For good measure, please also run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

- 3 years ago@puzzlezaddict I am sorry I already reinstalled the sims. It's so weird! I only had this issue last week with the first. My graphic settings stay on ultra and I usual play in windowed fullscreen on a 4k resolution. Easily. When it patches it absolutely destroys my graphics card.

@pyuppie I'm not saying you can't or shouldn't play in 4k, only that it's going to tax your graphics card. A 4k resolution means four times as many pixels to render as full HD, and while the workload doesn't scale linearly, it certainly increases by a significant amount.
How is your game running after the reinstall? If you're still getting lag, please post a dxdiag, and also let me know what kind of framerates you're seeing. You can use the cheat "fps on" to find out; the number will appear in the lower-left corner, over the UI.
