Age Progression Glitch

Hi,

Since the Get Famous patch update, I've been having a glitch where it shows aging progress when I look at the Simology panel, even though aging is turned off. I've double checked all my settings and aging is off for both my household and other households. As far as I can tell my Sims don't actually age up, but it really bothers me because I know the glitch is there.

This happens for both new saves and old ones.

Since it's not making the game unplayable, I've been hoping that patches would fix the issue, but they haven't and it's also not been addressed in those patches. I do not use Mods in my game but I do use two Custom Content items - a grey Create a Sim background and the blob remover package. I have also tested it without Custom Content, cleared out all the appropriate cache files, repaired the game and uninstalled and then reinstalled the game, but there were no changes.

Are there any other suggestions I could try? If not, I hope it gets fixed soon.

  • @Plumbeeb I never play with aging off so I'm unsure how it was before. Was there no bar at all ? Do you maybe happen to have pictures for before and after ?

    Hi Crin,

Unfortunately I don't have a before and after, but I do have a screenshot of what it looks like now if I start a new save file.

Though you can't see, my cursor is actually hovering over the bar - if you have aging turned on, it will tell you how many days until your Sim ages up, if you have it turned off then nothing should appear.

Each Sim seems to start off at a different progression stage, sometimes it's more, sometimes less. As I always have aging turned off, the bar should be completely greyed out.

Yes the bar was empty before.

I had no idea it was intentional, I searched the forum quite a bit to see if anyone had a similar thing and couldn't find anything - so thank you for the information, it's much appreciated!

@crinrictHey crin I just wanted to let you know that for a while there was a small glitch in the age bar that when you turned aging off the bar wouldn't show. The reason why all sims get different starting points when creating sims from CAS is so that not all sims have the same birthday in the game. However you can fix it back to no progress by making sim drink young again potion. The ageing off, should disabled the bar not hide the current progress bar of each sim.  If the aging off is working you won't see the age number until the next level when you hoover your mouse over it.  When aging is on you will see numbers until next level when you hoover your mouse over the age bar.

@Plumbeeb This was something that took us (players) all by surprise. I saved a room to my gallery with "5 Youth Potions" to use as needed to reset Sims back to the beginning of their stage. It is especially useful if I am starting a challenge and need to full range of days.

@EuphorialQueen It's definitely taken me by surprise haha, but I do understand why they made those changes even if it is kinda pointless when you have aging turned off, but oh well.

And the youth potion is a great tip, I hadn't thought about that! It's also easy enough to get with satisfaction points so I'll definitely give this a go. Thanks for the advice! :D
