Sims 4 legacy save crashes upon launch

As title states. I've removed all mods and cleared the local thumb cache but it still wont launch. on a side note from that, the game wont play with script mods enabled, even when I've removed all script mods. and im pretty sure my other mods at this point.

  • oualie  Did you remove the entire Mods folder, and did you repair the game afterwards?  If not, please do both now.  You can repair through the EA App (Sims 4 > Manage > Repair) or Steam (Sims 4 > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files).

If that doesn't help, please let me know when the game crashes, as in, when it's starting to load, or after you've chosen a save to play?  And if you get any kind of error message, please post a screenshot.

Hello thanks, i tried completely removing the mod folder and repairing the game and it still crashes. the crash happens after a bit on the loading screen after selecting which save file to play. no error messages are given

  • oualie  Please test a new save, for comparison's sake.  I'd like to know whether you can load any save at all.  If the new save doesn't work, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If that doesn't help either, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

If the new save does work, are you able to get far enough into your main save to choose which specific household to load?  If so, please try loading one you've never played before, again as a comparison.  Let me know either way.

I tried loading an old save and playing a new one and it worked so it must be that my save file is corrupted? :(

that still leaves me with the issue where enabling script mods gets me stuck on the world selection when trying to load a game

  • oualie  The script mods issue is likely that you have one or more broken mods.  You'll need to test them and remove any that reintroduce the problem.

For the broken save, again, are you able to get far enough to choose which household to play?  (This would be Load Game > choose world > choose house.)  If so, can you load into a different household and play it?
