Black screen on startup

I'm not sure if anyone else is having this problem but it's really bugging me. Last night Sims 4 was working like a charm but now everytime I clicked play it just takes me to a black screen. Even causing my laptop not to function so I have to shut it down by holding the power button. I've tried almost everything, re installing the game, re installing origin, updating the game and client and even repairing the game. So far nothing
  • Hi @InfamousVeil,

You don't remember having made any changes in your laptop since last night, right? Installing any programs, updating Windows...

Have you installed any new mods?

If not, as there are no new updates for the game available since yesterday so that can't be the cause, let's try 2 things:

1.- Make sure there are no damaged files in your user files

Go to Documents \ Electronic Arts and rename The Sims 4 folder as The Sims 4 old. Try to open the game now.

If it still doesn't start, try to:

2.- Restore your system to an earlier point

You should choose to restore your computer to the most recent point before the issue started. Ideally to a restore point created yesterday, if there's one. This will remove programs and updates installed since that restore point. Your user files will remain. However, you should save any open documents before restoring your system, as your computer will be restarted.
