Blotchy Vampire Skintones

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Everything except Jungle Adventure.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Create a Sim with one of three darker vampire skintones and load their household to play them.
What happens when the bug occurs? The face is noticeably blotchy and discolored. It's worse on the three darkest vampire skintones and much less noticeable on the lighter vampire ones. It is not apparent in CAS, only in live mode.
What do you expect to see? For the face to look normal and not glaringly patchy.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

I've removed my mods, repaired the game, reset the folder, etc., and the issue remains. Have also tried a new save and it's the same. I don't think this is by design so something must've gone haywire.

Very late to responding but as it turns out, it was fixed by a mere graphic settings change! D'oh. I'd never touched the "uncompressed sims textures" option before (mostly forgot it existed to be honest) but when I enabled the uncompressed textures, the weird blotchy skin tones ceased. Sorry for all the fuss and thank you guys for trying to help me!

  • Hi @littlemissgogo

could you give us some info about your computer ? What kind of graphics card do you have ? Are you playing with laptop mode on ? What settings are you on ?
  • My graphics card is a GeForce GTX 970 and I don't play with laptop mode on. My graphics settings are all set to High. Processor is an i5 but I can't remember the speed off the top of my head. 16GB of memory. Regular skintones appear just fine but the vampire ones are rather rough looking, which is super apparent on the last three shades. The game runs smoothly aside from your average TS4 hiccups.

Could you upload that Sim to the gallery ?

I haven't been able to repro this on my vampires (that are rather dark skinned)

    Hi @littlemissgogo

As Crin stated, uploading to the gallery might be very helpful.

But also, we wanted to ask you a few questions if you are willing to answer.

Are you graphic card's drivers up to date?

What mods or CC did you have installed previously? Did they involve textures?

Could you send us you DxDiag?

    Thank you very much!
