Build/buy mode UI not appearing, & gameplay mode not loading.

I have come back from uni after the new update, and without downloading any new mods or cc, I loaded the game to find it barely worked, despite working fine before the update with all the same files. Here is what initally didn't work: Resume play would lock me in a loading screen (would have to restart my pc to get the game closed) - I had to go through 'load game' to acess the save file. Once here, trying to enter CAS, build/buy mode, and gameplay mode would all lock in a loading screen, similar to before. 

I would like to preface by saying that by mod file, I don't mean cc files as well, just the gameplay changing mods.

After that, I updated all my mods (More buyable venues, meaningful stories, etc) so they weren't outdated, as well as the more CAS columns and CAS stand-still single file mods. CAS now loads and works, and build/buy loads, but is unusable as no UI appears. The other problems (resume play & gameplay not loading) still stand. 

Next, I moved my saves, tray & mods files to my desktop, uninstalled and reinstalled the whole game, restarting my pc inbetween. Nothing changed. I tried loading the game after taking each mod file out one by one, but still nothing changed. I deleted the localthumbscache.package file and repaired the (newly installed) game through EA, still nothing changed.

I have a few lastException error files from today, but I don't know what to look for in those. I saw the name of one of my mod files mentioned (meaningful stories) so tired loading the game without that file again, but still didn't work.

I have over 1,400 cc files. Am I seriously going to have to sift through all of those? I am aware of the 50/50 method and/or going through having taken out 50 files at a time, but loading up the game to the build/buy mode takes a couple minutes each time, so that's still a lot of effort. Also, what if it's more than one file causing this problem? Then I wouldn't know I'd taken out a broken file even if I had.

I only play the game with my one generational save file, which all the sims' designs and house designs are dependent on my mods file, so playing without cc isn't an option.

Some help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    @lucielikescats  Rather than taking a little content out at a time, try playing with no content and slowly adding it back in.  First, this will establish whether the problem is your content or something else, and second, loading times will be shorter with so much less content in your user folder.  This will also allow you to set aside batches of mods and cc that are fine; you don't need to keep them in while you're testing everything else.  Test first with a new save and then with a copy of your main one.

    As a side note, you may find you have a conflict between two or more mods, but you can test for that separately once you've removed any content that doesn't work even on its own.

    If you still see any issues with none of your old content, please list them, and also run a dxdiag and attach it to your reply.
