Can’t click on my Sims or do anything

I just loaded up my game and I can’t click on my sims or anything. When I try to click them for the camera to pan to them, nothing happens, when I zoom out to try to find them, they’re nowhere to be found despite all of them being home. I can’t access the cell phone or interact with anything in the home. I do have mods and CC but I disabled them and relaunched, no change, restarted my computer, no change, repaired the file in Origin, no change.

Please help!!

  • @ragingredfox I know you did several of these steps, but can you please do these exact steps in this order to see if it helps by this method:

    Please try the following:

    • Exit your game then exit Origin. If you have mods or CC, please copy the Mods folder from your 'The Sims 4' folder to your desktop (for future reference) then delete the mods folder and the localthumbnailcache.package file in your 'The Sims 4' folder and restart the game and so that the game will re-create the folder.
    • Then run a game repair [ Open Origin, click 'Game Library' then right-click Sims 4 > Repair Game ]. After that, please see if the issue has stopped.
(If It fixes the situation you can re-add your mods/cc one at a time to see if one was conflicting with the function/causing the glitch - but do not re-add the old config file from the old mods folder, as it is possible for it to have become corrupted also.)

Please let us know how it goes.

  • I followed all the steps and no luck ☹️ still doing the exact same thing. However I tried making a new sim and she was fine, checked in with one of my other families, no glitching there. I ended up moving my family out of the apartment they were living in into a new one and that seemed to fix it. Somehow that lot must have bugged out. It was the penthouse in San Myshuno.

@ragingredfox Hmmm.... Interesting. Good detective work - and thank you for trying! In such cases it is good to do these steps first to make sure that the mods and cc and all of their potential effects are no longer part of the equation.

I actually had some buggy issues with that lot at one point, but I think in that instance I was overloading the lot a bit... and maybe pushing it's intended use with some of the things I was doing. (I made it a restaurant - a pretty involved one - plus had a large household who owned and ran it living there almost all of the time (though they had a home, as necessary.) Anyway, I had a number of buggy issues pop up then. If you would like to still have that lot for the family you could try starting a new, fresh save and uploading the penthouse from the new save into your library then downloading/overwriting the buggy one in that save you wanted to play it in, save it, then try moving your family in again and seeing if the issues have gone away.
