Can’t select some houses/lots

Very strange. Two houses in Willow Creek can’t be selected. It doesn’t matter if I try from the world map or try to move a household. They stay grey when I hold the cursor over the lots. One of them has a grey “crystal” over it but when I click it, one of the neighbor houses lights up.  Nothing at all happens when Try to hold or click with the cursor on the other house/lot.

All other lots can be selected.

But I can visit them when I’m in the game! There are family’s living there too.

I have tried to restart the game, repair it in Origin but nothing changes. The problem is the same all over my saved games. Same if I start a new game.

  • Could you post a screenshot of what you're seeing?

Do you have any mods or custom content (CC) in your game? Could you test without?
You can just move the folder to a location outside the Electronic Arts folder.
If the game works without your CC and mods in, your issue is probably caused by a broken mod or CC.
You can find a full list of broken/incompatible CC and mods since game updated on November 13th over here:
    https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/950909/broken-updated-mods-python-terrain-update-get-famous-nov-18/p1

This update, updated the coding for mods so most mods need updating.
If it still doesn't work I suggest taking out half of your mods and CC and testing the game. Then keep splitting until you find all that is broken.
Either update or remove the broken CC/mods.

I don’t have any mods or cc at all.

  • Ha those diamonds are called plumbobs. That seems normal, it sounds a little like you're clicking next to where you want to click.
Could you try playing around and see if that is the case at all? It could be your mouse is just a bit out of whack?

No, it doesn’t matter if I switch to another mouse or use the pad, same problem. The mouse work fine.  I tried to post a film clip to show the problem but I didn’t manage to do it.

When I click(or hold the cursor) on the houses (inside the square) nothing happens. On all other lots the square lights up, but not here. When I click on the plumbot (thanks for the name) the plumbot from the house above “come down” and that lot’s square lights up (the wrong ones).

So I can choose those neighbor houses “from two spots”; the real ones and theese “fake ones”. The actual houses on the lots can’t be reached.

You haven’t heard of this problem before?

That seems like my problem, I can’t edit the lots at all. But if I reset, doesn’t the whole game restart and everything will be lost?

You will lose nothing. Go to menu Start/ Documents/ElectronicArts - inside will be The Sims4 folder
Step 1. Rename this The Sims4 folder to "The Sims4 old" /Right click on the game folder - option "rename"
Step 2. Fix the game in Origin
Step 3. Turn on the game - new game folder will be create and you will have two - one old , one new
Step.4. Take random sim and start new game. Check if you still have this problem in the new created game folder
    If problem desaperaed
Step 5. Delete in the new game folder following folders:
    "saves" and Tray.
Step 6. Go to "The Sims 4 old" folder and copy - your "saves " folder. / Right click on the folder - option - copy
Step . 7 Paste this folder in new created game folder. / Right click on the new game folder - option - paste
Step 8. Do the same with Tray folder
Step 9. Turn on the game , go to your save and check if all is OK now
Step.10 If all is OK - delete The Sims4 old folder . Now you will
have only one game folder which is working properly.
