Cannot run Sims 4: error 0e6d1221

Hey!

The game was running smoothly since a few days ago, but now it's impossible to run Sims 4 as I get an error on startup (see attached image). No hardware change has happened that could cause this issue. My GPU (R9 290) manages to run high graphics games (BF1 etc) flawlessly.

Attached to this message is my DxDiag.

Here's a few things I tried without success to fix the situation:

- Repair the game

- Uninstall/Reinstall the game

- Get rid of the save folder (C:\Users\XXXX\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\)

- Deactivate Origin on Game properties

- Reinstall Origin

- Make a clean install of my GPU drivers

Any help would be welcome with this issue!

Thanks

  • Hey guys, thanks for the help!

I found out that the latest AMD Drivers were the culprits here, and Windows 10 was auto-updating the drivers without my knowledge. I rolled back a few versions of the drivers, and disabled Windows doing drivers auto-update and it worked!

In order to disable drivers automatically updating, do this:

    - Right click on PC icon>Properties

    - Left column> advanced parameters>hardware tab

    - Drivers install parameter (second button out of two)> set it to NO

    Hope it helps other users.

@Lynx_Maeglin  As you have the creators update that means you have a new gaming option in settings. Try turning this off - by default it is on

    Hi @Lynx_Maeglin,

Glad to read you found a solution! 🙂 Thanks for sharing it with everyone!

Now that your game is working again, if you have any gameplay questions about the new pack that will be releasing tomorrow (The Sims 4 Parenthood), you might want to take a look to this Q&A thread by @crinrict and @Phantomlover1717. They are ready to answer questions and comment the game with Simmers! 🙂
