can't install sims 4

Stuck on "preparing" and doesn't progress at all. Have restarted PC, restarted ea app, cleared cashe, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, changed the location of the download. nothing has worked. 

The sims was working fine yesterday, and when trying to open it today, was saying it was "already running" when it wasn't. decided to uninstall and reinstall but now I can't reinstall, even just the base game.

    I HAVE THE SOLUTION

    i had this same problem and it worked like a charm and even if you've tried part of it I recommend doing it again but anyway do as follows;

    1. Cancel the install

    2. locate file explorer

    3. find your C: drive and open Program Files then EA Games and inside you will find the folder called Sims 4 once you found it DELETE IT

    4. Open up EA and clear cache

    5. Start sims download 🥳
