Can't Launch Sims 4 On Steam

Product: The EA app
Platform:PC
Error Report ID (learn how to create an Error Report ID in the sticky post)
Which client functionality are you experiencing this bug with? Launch Game
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 07/20/23 10:20
Summarize your bug i cant open sims 4.
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? trying to launch the sims on steam.
What happens when the bug occurs? theres a link2ea popup that doesnt load and eventually closes and causes a error message to popup (either "a unexpected error occurred" or "the servers timed out.)
What do you expect to see? i expect my game to load up after a few times launching it. (it never works on the first try.)

earlier today it finally opened up the game twice after i added an exclusion to Windows security. this was the first time I've been able to open it in about a week. it opened both times after about 3 times launching it. i had to exit the game the first time to enable mods after the update. the second time, there was a mod conflicting and i had to exit again to remove the mod. after removing the mod, i wasnt able to open the game again. ive tried removing the mods folder, re-adding the exclusion, deleting ea's cache, restarting the ea app, and making exclusion for ea files.

(cm edit - updated thread, moving to sims)

  • @yourawizardkay  Please uninstall the EA App with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine).  Then restart your computer, reinstall the App, and run both Steam and the EA App as an admin: right-click on each desktop shortcut and select "Run as administrator."  Only try to launch Sims 4 with both apps up and fully loaded.

@yourawizardkay  Please create a new admin Windows account and try playing there.  Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account.  You'll be able to (try to) launch Sims 4 without reinstalling anything, but your saves and other user content won't be available.  That's fine for now; just let me know whether the game opens.

If it doesn't, please post a screenshot of the error.  Please also run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.
