Can't move EA folder to external harddrive

Do you have windows 10?

Maybe you can move your documents folder to the D:drive. This would mean >all< your documents, user files, etc, not just the Sims.

Please try this, and then make sure you move everything so that you no longer have a documents folder in your C-drive. (move all files then delete the folder)

You can not move the Windows folder like that. You can however do it with the Documents folder.

You can not move it to an external drive but despite you said that was what you tried it appears you are only trying to relocate it to your D: drive which will work fine.

Depending of number and size of files it may take some time for Windows to complete the move of the documents folder. Once it is finished you must restart Windows.

@CMekimentioned that you should delete the documents folder which happens automatically when you move it however a standard folder called documents are created. If you look at its properties you can see that it does not have the same properties as the real Documents folder. It is there for legacy apps that are hardcoded to look for Documents in a particular spot.

Finally I will show the easy way to do this. Rightclick the documents folder and drag it to the D: drive and let go. Select move at the prompt. Restart when it is finished. 

I went back and did this today and now it works! The EA folder looks like it appears in my Documents folder but the Location is set to D: now. 
I guess I should've probably restarted my laptop after I tried before.

Nevermind. The way it set up on my computer was weird. It turned my Documents folder into a different way to access my D: folder, and when I thought I deleted my mods from ONLY one folder, it deleted it permanently from both. I guess I'll try to do it again later but I'm upset I lost all my mods 😢.

My documents is just a shortcut it automatically goes to the location where the Documents folder are currently located.

Unless you chose permanent delete you can find the files in Recycle Bin.
