Can't open game due to corrupted mod files

Whenever I try to launch Sims 4 (through steam, origin, or desktop) I get an error message that it can't launch due to a corrupted file, and then it lists one of my mods. I delete the mod, and I get the same error message listing the next mod down the list. It does this with every mod and cc. The only way it works is if I remove the mod file entirely.

Things I've tried:

- Repairing the game

- Reinstalling the game

- Reinstalling Origin

- Deleting localthumbcache.package

- Deleting Origin's cache

- Reinstalling/repairing drivers

- Removing the mod folder, letting the game create a new one, and moving the individual subfolders into the new mod folder

- Creating all new subfolders in the new mod folder and moving the individual files into the new subfolders

I've attached a screenshot of the error message. If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them, because this is a new development after completely reinstalling Windows 10 in an effort to get the game to launch at all after the EA App broke it. My game hasn't worked for two weeks and I'm exhausted.

  • @runicbinary  Among the things you've tried, have you downloaded a fresh copy of a mod and added that to an otherwise clean Mods folder?  (As in, the folder contains nothing but the resource.cfg.)  If not, please try it now, and don't use any subfolders; just add the mod directly to Mods.

If this doesn't help, please let me know what antivirus you use.

The rest of my mods still don't work, though, for the record.

@runicbinary  That means that your other mods are outdated or corrupted.  Even if the mods themselves are updated, the files may have been corrupted somehow, and you'll need to downloa dfresh copies.

I take it there's no other way to repair them? I have so many cc files that it would be nearly impossible to re-download them all. Honestly, between this and EA revealing themselves to be a truly awful company, I'm probably just going to delete the whole game.

I appreciate your help, though. Thanks for getting back to me.

@runicbinary  If the files themselves have been corrupted, then no, it's not possible to restore them to working order.  You can always try a few of them, one at a time, to see if some might have been spared.

As for deleting the game, I understand the sentiment, but on the flip side, cc shopping is one of the great pleasures for many Sims players.  Maybe it's not for you, but then again, maybe you'll find some other items you like.

Oh, I love shopping for cc, but individually tracking down each one of what amounts to many hundreds of files I already have just so everyone in my game isn't naked does not appeal. But, I don't know, maybe I'll give it a try once I'm done being thoroughly disgusted with EA (for now). It's not like I haven't already put in going on three weeks of work to get the game working again.
