I'm also having this problem after combining two households following a wedding. I don't use mods, but the house they moved out of was from the gallery. It was listed as No CC, but looked like mods were used in the build. I deleted the house, but if mods were added to my save, I don't know how to remove them. Some of the items that came from the house are career items that none of my sims have earned, but others are items my sim HAS earned. Basically, anything that came from that household is unusable now. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Any CC you don't have will be either removed or replaced with a default item.
As for career items you will not be able to place these if you currently have no one in that career with sufficient level to unlock them.
You can use an unlock cheat to place them.
