Can't play after EA app switch

Ok this is just about driving me insane. Tried to load up Sims earlier tonight, forced to switch from Origin to the EA app. Downloaded the EA app, signed in, games are there but whenever I click to play I get some message about how the server has encountered a "mysterious error" and I should try again later.

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the EA app, clearing the cache, restarting the computer, turning off anti virus/firewall. I've signed in and out of the EA app several times. Sometimes it gives me the option to download my game (which apparently shouldn't be necessary and doesn't do anything anyway) and sometimes its just the "mysterious error" message with no other option available. One time it said something about how the purchase might have been made on another device by another user.. there is no other device and no other user. 

Has anyone got any ideas? anyone had a similar issue?

    @grv0eczqztr9 Check puzzlezaddict's comment, if they are greyed out, a cache clear can also help you. (Also, if you've recently installed the app, make sure it has an exception in your antivirus)

    @puzzlezaddict Thank you, I have cleared cache and tried the repair before. I did uninstall and am currently reinstalling, hoping that'll work. I will have to see, will let everyone know if it does.

    @grv0eczqztr9  The reinstall worked. Haven't tried it on my laptop because I'm just ready to play but I don't see any issues.
