Can't Play Origin Games Offline

There is so much contradictory information regarding playing offline with Origin games, a feature that is advertised as something Sims 4 should be capable of doing. However, my bill has gotten behind and I am now without internet temporarily until my paycheck comes in. At first, clicking on origin wouldn't even bring it up. It would do the loading symbol for a second, then nothing happened. So, at some Google suggestions, I quit Origin, turned off my wifi connection completely and clicked the Origin icon. The login thing pops up, but maintains an "Offline Login Currently Unavailable" error before and after attempting to login. So, my games are completely inaccessible without an internet connection. I've been a sims fan for a long time, and I don't remember ever being forced to have a constant wifi connection before this. I am NOT a fan of multiplayer games for this reason, so having all of my single player games trapped behind a wall is insanely frustrating on me AND my very empty wallet on EA's behalf. Is there no way to login with a phone and tether it somehow? I read about someone else doing this, but he didn't give instructions.

  • @Theglowworm1988  You could use your phone as a wifi hotspot, just long enough to login to Origin and set it to offline mode.  (How to do this may depend on your phone, but all modern phones should have the option.  Then you can see the hotspot on your computer just like any other wifi network.)  From then on, you should be able to load Origin while offline, as long as you don't clear Origin's cache, which would clear your login data and require another (temporary) internet connection.

You can also try launching Sims 4 directly from its .exe file, or from a shortcut to the file.  When I've done so while offline, an Origin login window has come up, and once I enter my password, the game has launched offline.  Unless you've changed the install location for Sims 4, the path to the .exe should be:

    Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin

If you play in 64-bit mode, which you should if you have more than 4 GB RAM, you'll want to use TS4_64.exe; otherwise, use TS4.exe.

  • This actually worked! I was able to use the mobile hotspot from my fiance's phone to login and then place origin in offline mode. I really appreciate you taking the time to reply to this and so quickly! I wish Origin didn't need this kind of work around, but I'm so happy to know it exists as an option. This really isn't a solution you see anywhere on Google, surprisingly. Thanks again!

Sorry if i replied this 1 year later.

On January 2020, i tried : set the Origin on offline mode and tried to play Fifa and NFS offline, it worked. But, months later, i tried playing on offline mode, it can't,

So Playing offline mode only works briefly.
