I'm having the same problem. Before it didn't matter. I would click the sims4 icon (without an internet connection). The origin login box would pop up and I would type in my password and then the game would start. But today I'm having no such luck. It wants a connection which I don't have at the moment because there's something going on with my provider.
What's the exact wording of the message you're getting ?
