1. Have the latest version of the video card driver

2. Tried "repair" option in Origin

3. No Mods

4. Tried to start in window mode

5. Deleted localthumbcache.package

6. Disabled Origin in-game

  • @Amakesh  Try disabling Nahimic/A-Volute in the Task Manager before you launch the game.  There may be more than one entry in the Task Manager's background processes list, so make sure to go through the entire list.

Your dxdiag also lists a couple errors related to a misbehaving driver, but the error doesn't specify which one.  So it's a good idea to tell Windows to look for updates for all your drivers.  First, run a couple of basic checks on your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes into the window, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes into the window, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

Next, hit Windows key-X, select the Device Manager, open each section in turn, click on each entry, and click the black and green Update button in the menu.  Windows probably won't find anything for almost all devices, but that's fine; the point is to make it search.  Restart again after you've gone through the list.

When you restart your computer, Nahimic will restart too, so be sure to disable it again before trying to play.

If you get the same error, please post a new dxdiag.

@puzzlezaddictThere is not need to use DISM, It's a new laptop and freshly installed OS. I've been using it for less than a week. There is no new updates available. I don't think Nahimic has anything to do, because there i had it and The Sims 4 on my old laptop too and  there was no problems.

I checked Config.log and there is something like this: Unable to read graphics device parameters. (code: 1)

@Amakesh  And in the less than a week you've had this laptop, it's already BlueScreened at least twice.  Plus, Nahimic and a component of Windows's audio system have also been crashing.  So please do the basic maintenance that I suggested.

If you want a reasonable explanation for why it's necessary, think about when the OS would have actually been installed on this laptop, that is if you didn't wipe the system drive and install Windows yourself.

@puzzlezaddict Problem solved! I just had to switch GPU mode from MSHybrid to Discrete. In MSHybrid the graphics card should be switched automatically and it was for other games but unfortunately not for TS4..

@Amakesh MSI uses an audio addon called Nahimic. It adds sounds effects to your audio. It caused issues with some games. I though I read somewher that the issue was fixed. Not sure on this but IF you have audio issues just disable Nahimic from loading at boot. TS4 does some post GPU processing (overlays) so it needs to know what video card you have WHEN the game starts. As you have learned this is done in the video driver. Your on your way to be a seasoned gamer. Good luck and happy gaming.
