Hello! So I have been having this issue for months, basically if I download a house off the internet and place it in my tray folder correctly, it won't appear. But if I add a lot to my library via the gallery, it will appear. I have removed all my cc and repaired my game, and tested vanilla, and it still does not appear, and I want to fix this. Thank you! I will show pictures of my mods folder below and a screenshot of me ingame with Script mods and cc enabled, as well as in the gallery, and it still is not appearing.

LifeOn_Sims4 If you add another household or lot from the Gallery, or save one of your own, do any new files appear in this Tray folder? I ask because it looks like you've only added two items to this folder, and it sounds like you've tried more between using the Gallery and installing your own files. It's possible the game is reading a different folder instead. So please add some item from the Gallery or your own game and see whether you get any new files in this folder. If you don't see new files, please find the full path to the folder the game is reading, as described here: https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2018/07/how-to-find-your-user-folder/ Then add the Tray files you download to that folder. If one item doesn't work, remove its files and test another. And make sure the "include custom content" box is still checked when viewing your Library.

puzzlezaddict Hello! Yes, when I download files from the gallery, these files appear in my Tray folder. It's only when I download custom cc Builds/Households. I know these files that I download are not corrupt, as they work in my friend's game. I have also tried Game repairing everything, so I'm not sure what's going on.

LifeOn_Sims4 Try using a different browser to download them, preferably a new one or one you never use just to make sure your settings aren't interfering. Firefox is pretty good about not corrupting downloaded files if you'd like a suggestion. Please also double-check that the downloads are base game-compatible or at least don't use any packs you don't own. For example, a household with a pet probably wouldn't show up if you didn't have Cats & Dogs installed.

puzzlezaddict I have just tried using the Firefox browser to download an apparently base game only house, and it has still not appeared in my Library with CC toggled on and correctly placed into my Tray folder.

LifeOn_Sims4 Alright, let's try a clean user folder next. Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, launch the game to create a new folder, quit (at the Main Menu is fine), download a fresh copy of some item, and put its files in the new, now-empty Tray folder. Your saves and other user content won't be read by the game, but everything will be intact in the folder you moved and can be restored later. If you don't see a new Sims 4 folder, you didn't remove the one the game is using. If you see a Tray folder with items in it already, in exactly the same location as the Sims 4 folder you removed, then OneDrive may be downloading online copies of your files that it had previously synced. In either case, let me know so we can address that specific issue. Otherwise, place the files in the Tray folder and load the game to see whether the content shows up. If it doesn't, please test in a new admin Windows account. Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account or any email address. You'll be able to launch the game without reinstalling anything.

LifeOn_Sims4 The last picture shows your files are in ...OneDrive > Attachments > Documents etc. That's the problem, or at least A problem.

LifeOn_Sims4 Do you see Attachments in the file path in your last screenshot? That's your problem: that's not the path the game is using. So you somehow have a duplicate Sims 4 folder where you're placing the Tray files.

By the way, I meant for you to test-download files in the new admin Windows account, and if they didn't show up, list the folder the game was reading in that account. The path shouldn't include OneDrive because OneDrive can't be involved when a Windows account is local, as in, it has no email attached to it.

Still, if these screenshots are from your main account, we've hopefully found the issue.

I tried checking the file location
But like all the files are completely the same? both in documents and in this pathway so I'm not 100% sure if this could possibly be the issue or not

However, that doesn't make sense because every time I add new mods or CC, they appear in-game. So, how does The Sims 4 read my actual mods folder and a OneDrive Tray file together at the same time, which is probably in a different location? Is the reason why I can't see the Tray files ingame because the Sims 4 is trying to read them from OneDrive?

But my saves don't link to my library? But is the Sims 4 reading off my OneDrive tray files, not my main tray files? Perhaps I didn't manage to unlink everything from OneDrive?

Oh wait, this isn't what's supposed to happen, correct? I used to have problems with OneDrive before, but I fully uninstalled it? Is this the root of all my problems???? puzzlezaddict

LifeOn_Sims4 You can uninstall and reinstall the game if you want, and it might help, but that typically doesn't do anything for issues related to the user files.

Are you absolutely sure this item doesn't include any content you don't have installed, whether that's a pack you don't own or custom content? It would be best to try a lot or two listed as base game only and with no cc at all, just to keep things simple.

Please also make sure you're placing the files directly inside Tray (not in a subfolder) in the Sims 4 folder the new account is reading. Here's how to find it:

puzzlezaddict Okay so I changed to local account's permissions to administrator and launched sims 4 after closing the EA app and background services in task manager and toggled on Sims 4 script mods and then exited the game and downloaded a cc house. I placed it in my Tray folder went back onto Sims 4 and went to my library and toggled on cc and it still didn't appear? I'm so confused is this like the first time this has happened? If I uninstalled Sims 4 and reinstalled it would it perhaps work?
