Constant Crashing Since Last Major Update

I have barely been able to play at all since the last big update (the one that included all the "scenarios"). Game either crashes as soon as house loads or 5-10 minutes in.

I do not use CC

I renamed my Sims folder to autocreate a new one and it ran fine for a day then went right back to crashing (I did not add anything back in from the old folder).

I have manually updated all drivers.

I have run virus software.

I have run SupportAssist which finds no issues.

I have used "Repair Game" in Origin several times and turned off Origin In-Game.

I'm not very techy at all so attaching dxdiag and hope that has all info needed.

  • @crystalrainlove  Your dxdiag lists a number of system errors, including two BlueScreens related to the graphics driver.  So it's a good idea to run a couple of basic checks on your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes into the window, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes into the window, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the button to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

For the graphics driver, you already have the newest one offered by Nvidia, so you'll need to do a clean uninstall and reinstall.  Here's how:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/02/clean-re-install-of-graphics-drivers-with-display-driver-uninstaller-ddu.html

You can get a fresh copy of the newest driver here:

    https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/180557/en-us

Run the installer as an admin: right-click on the download and select "Run as administrator."  Restart again when you're done.

If you get another crash afterwards, please post a new dxdiag so I can compare it to this current one.

I type in the DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth and it just sits there. It won't even start.

I'm gonna have to just pay somebody because this is ridiculous.

@crystalrainlove  The fact that DISM won't run is definitely a bad sign.  But before you pay anyone else to fix it for you, you can try a repair install instead:

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/16397-repair-install-windows-10-place-upgrade.html

The method that uses an ISO file (step 4) doesn't require a USB or any other install medium.  While this doesn't create a completely clean Windows install—some drivers and other basic software are retained—it's the next-best option, and you wouldn't need to pay anything.

Been fiddling around with the computer , following so many suggestions from so many that I don't even recall what all I've done but got that to finally run and got:

    Error: 0x800f081f

The source files could not be found.
Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=243077.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log
    PS C:\WINDOWS\system32>

    So... ugh. So frustrating.
