Constant/Consistent Game Crashing in All Modes - Even Fully Vanilla

OS: Windows 10 64-bit
CPU: Intel(R) Core i5-7200U CPU @ 2.50GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.7GHz
RAM: 6144 MB (6 GB)
Graphics: Intel(R) HD Graphics 620 w/ Approx. Total Memory: 3134 MB

Since roughly two months ago, I've been experiencing constant and consistent crashes. Crashing occurs in all modes: live, build/buy, cas, gallery, manage worlds, loading screens, and main menu. Most of these crashes would classify as game crashes that produce lastCrash.txt documents, but once I started troubleshooting, it would cause Blue Screens of Death (memory_management, bad_object_header, and page_default_in_nonpaged_area).

I've done countless measures to fix this issue:

  1. Graphics Driver Updates & Fixes
    - Used Intel Driver & Support Assistant (found no updates)
    - Manually downloaded and installed latest Intel HD Graphics 620 driver
    - Used DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) in Safe Mode to fully remove old drivers
    - Reinstalled Intel HD Graphics 620 driver from Intel's official site
     - Checked Device Manager and confirmed driver installation (initially reverted to Microsoft Basic Display Adapter)
  2. Graphics & Game Fixes
    - Switched between DirectX 11 (-dx11) and DirectX 9 (-dx9) via EA App launch options
    - Deleted Options.ini to reset Sims 4 graphics settings
    - Lowered in-game graphics settings to minimum
    - Tested game in windowed and fullscreen mode
    - Repaired The Sims 4 via EA App
    - Fully uninstalled and reinstalled the Sims 4 and manually deleted Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 folder to let the game rebuild it during the next game load

  3. System Stability Checks & Fixes
    - Ran mdsched.exe - no RAM errors found
    - Increase virtual memory (pagefile size) to prevent out-of-memory crashes
    - Reset virtual memory settings back to default
    - Ran SFC /SCANNOW and DISM commands to check for system corruption
    - Checked Task Manager performance tab for CPU/RAM/GPU usage
    - Monitored internal temperatures using CPUID HWMonitor
    - Set Windows Power Plan to High Performance to prevent throttling

  4. Testing Without Mods & Custom Content
    - Removed Mods folder completely to test a vanilla game
    - Deleted localthumbcache.package to clear cached mod data
    - Game still crashed in vanilla mode, even with lowest settings.

In my 11 years of playing the Sims 4, I've *never* experienced crashing like this. I'm at a complete loss of what to do or where to turn next, and I don't have the funds to physically upgrade my hardware/equipment. I've attached the lastCrash.txt file as a Google Drive link (the attachment feature on here isn't working).

Any help whatsoever would be beyond appreciated!!

  • kelseys41375  You've already tried a lot, but did you ever delete the page file entirely and then let Windows rebuild it?  As in, you could set the virtual memory to zero, restart, and then either tell Windows to go back to managing its size or reset the size to what you want.  I would suggest doing this with plenty of free storage on your C drive as well, above what you'd be assigning to the page file, especially (but not only) if it's a mechanical drive.

If that doesn't help, I'd suggest using MemTest 86 to test the RAM, as it catches problems that other tools do not.  Here are a link and a guide:

Aside from that, your Google Drive link is restricted, so if you want me to see what's in it, please change the setting so that "anyone with the link" can view it.
