Copied a Sim's outfit. Sim's entire model broke and then game crashed

What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All except Journey to Batuu, Fitness, Bowling Night and Movie Hangout Stuff. I also have no Kits except for the Desert Luxe Kit I got for free during the promotion.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Make a Sim. Start creating their outfits. Press the + to make a new outfit.
What happens when the bug occurs? The Sim's entire model breaks depsite it being the exact same outfit as the previous one. The Sim's entire model is covered in a shiny, plasticky blue, red, purple, pink and green texture that looks almost like it's been vacuum wrapped to the Sim's model, including the outfit. Upon trying to take a video or photo of the glitch, the game completely crashes, thus deleting the Sim.
What do you expect to see? The outfit to simply duplicate for me to edit, without the model breaking and the game crashing and deleting the Sim.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure
Mod note - play through Origin. Did not bring CC/mods over to new device when I swapped devices.
Unfortunately, since the game crashed, I lost not only the Sim I had been working on :c but I did not manage to get any photo or video evidence of this happening. I did double check the Tray and the most recent Sim saved is not the Sim I was working on :c
