Corrupted game library

After the most recent round of updates and bug fixes (post-lovestruck release), it appears my gallery/library is corrupted. I did have mods and cc installed, but even upon removing them, my cannot be loaded into CAS. The icon at the bottom left for each household member doesn’t load, it just spins and spins. If it does miraculously load, I can’t select other sims in the household. My human sims are solid black. This issue is all on my old PC, so my real question is-how do I prevent this from happening on my new PC? I kept everything up to date, I only had MCCC and the poseplayer/teleporter mod, but I did have a good amount of cc installed.

    @spaghettiman2  There's no way to prevent all issues, but keeping backups is helpful: you can restore one any time your current copy looks to have any problems at all.

    For the other issues, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and let me know which problems, if any, are still present.

    If the new save is fine, you can copy the old save to the new Sims 4 folder and test it too.  The solid black sims may be a result of missing cc skins, so try taking them into CAS (if it loads) to assign new skins.
