Like the title says, playing the Sims 4 only ends up opening Origin instead of actually launching the game. I've seen other posts like this but not since the last November update, and none of the solutions I found solved my issue.
What happens: When trying to launch the sims 4 by .exe file, by shortcut, or through Origin, Origin itself simply closes if it was already opened then opens back up again. In task manager, I do not see TS4 in processes, but it does pop up for a split second in the details tab.
Solving attempts: I tried
- Restarting and shutting down my computer
- Launching the sims from different locations
- Deleting my sims 4 folder from my documents
- Going offline in Origin
- Reinstalling the game
Notes:
- I've never downloaded any CC and didn't buy any new packs since before the update (the game was working then.)
- I did notice other people having issues with their game crashing after the November update I'm talking about-- but only crashing after their game was working just fine. Mine doesn't show up at all.
- Should I wait till a new update? I'll add that I'm not entirely sure if that's what caused the issue since I haven't opened the game I'd say.. around a week before it or so.
See if disabling audio as described here https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/983645/crashing-with-the-november-10-update%C2%A0 fix your issue. If it does then you will need to wait for a fix.

Adding -nosound didn't work. I also forgot to mention that my drivers are up to date and that I tried reinstalling Origin as well.

@Winner3579 and @RobynLaveau Please try the steps listed here:
There are several different reasons the game might not start, all with different fixes or workarounds, so it's important to try everything listed.

Hello, apologies for responding super late.
It turns out my problem was with Sophos home and the new update. After the update, code cave utilization prevention was killing the game for everyone who ran it. Plus adding the sims files to the exception tab for Sophos didn't help either- just a thing to note. Thanks for the help!
