Deleted From OneDrive

Is there a way someone could like view my computer screen and fix my game? I'm completely lost and I think I messed it up. I'm new to downloading mods and I've read that you're supposed to delete certain folders with this new update, which I've done and I didn't know what to do next. All my files uploaded to OneDrive and now I see a bunch of red X's on all my mods. I tried removing the files from OneDrive and when I took the Electronic Arts folder from OneDrive, it deleted EVERYTHING. So I took it out of the recycle bin and and dropped it back into OneDrive but I'm 99% sure that did nothing. Any advice or help?

  • @Luvleyy  The red X next to a file name means it hasn't been and possibly can't be synced to OneDrive.  This may or may not be an issue depending on your setup.  The first question is, what folder is Sims 4 reading?  Please list the full file path to that folder as seen in-game:

Please also let me know whether OneDrive is full or close to it, and whether you want to keep using it for other reasons.  I'm not suggesting you buy more storage, which is overpriced and usually unnecessary, only that your existing storage being full can complicate matters.

@Luvleyy  First, what's in the Electronic Arts - Copy folder in the first screenshot?  It's possible that your saves and other Sims 3 content are there.  In that case, please copy that  content to an external drive or USB stick, if you have one; otherwise, the Downloads folder on your computer should work.  If your content isn't in that folder, copy the Mods and saves folders from your second screenshot.

If you still can't find your saves, please stop here, and search your computer.  In a File Explorer window, click This PC in the left panel, then enter Slot_ in the search field in the upper-right corner.  Here again, make a copy of any saves you find.

Once you've found your saves and preserved them and anything else you want to keep, please do these steps, in order.  First, pause OneDrive syncing and cancel the current sync:

Next, change the location of Documents on your computer to C:\Users\your username\Documents ; note that OneDrive is NOT in that file path.  Here's how to do it:

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/74952-move-location-documents-folder-windows-10-a.html

Finally, unlink OneDrive, which disables it without uninstalling:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/turn-off-disable-or-uninstall-onedrive-f32a17ce-3336-40fe-9c38-6efb09f944b0

You can still download your files from onedrive.com if you ever have a reason.

Once you've done all this, load Sims 4 and make sure it's using the new location of Documents, i.e. the one you specified above.  Here's how to check:

    https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2018/07/how-to-find-your-user-folder/

If it is, you can move the saves and other content you backed up to the new folder in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, and it should all show up again.
