Dent/Shadow issue

Hey! Well I have been having ugly highlights or shadows in my downloadable custom content hair. And ive had it for a long time and I really hate it. Ive researched how to fix it and it says Removing Doubles fixes the dent/shadow issue. Can anyone direct me or show me what this means? If you can that would be really helpful!
