I also am experiencing the 14% problem so like most people I searched for the solution and saw that a lot of people are having the same problem. None of the solutions here worked for me but I did something myself that made it magically works. When I started downloading I immediately paused, and instead of showing the "calculating time" text it shows my downloading progress, and after I resume it is downloading normally. I am having this problem with A Way Out btw, and the problem occured when I didn't have the game previously installed. I hope this simple solution works for the people here struggling with this stupid problem.
Edit: Well it looks like this solution was a bust because after downloading to 14% it shows the same error. Did some more digging and I came to a conclusion that: This EA app just *fricking* sucks. I switched entirely to Origin and it works fine there, this time I actually got into the game. I suggest you all to switch to Origin if you are having the 14% problem, or just any other problem with this buggy app. To bypass the window forcing you to update to the EA app, I just followed this guide here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2948118653. I thought it was only me for a minute. Last night the same thing was going on for me. I tried to download titanfall 2 yesterday and it kept getting stuck at 14% preparing and then it would end with that same error “there was a problem with your download”. This is why I hate EA. I tried clearing my cache, reinstalling EA, even downloaded an old version and that didn’t work. I don’t know what to do now
