Does Sims have Default Clothing?

When I have my Sims change their clothes to a specific item, why do they change back to the clothes I first put on them when they were created?  For e.g.,, if I change my Sims to Everyday, when he goes to work, it defaults back to the previous attaire.  I want him/her, to go to work in what I had them selected. Is there a setting I have to change?
