EA app says sims 4 open and it’s not

EA app started off saying sims 4 was open when it wasn’t. I restarted the app and EA stopped opening for a week and i kept getting the restart error. I Clean booted, reinstalled and repaired the EA app several times nothing worked. Today the app randomly started working but it still says Sims 4 is running when it’s not. I’ve cleared the cache and moved options ini. to my desktop. I’ve checked my Task Manager and followed this link: https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2015/08/game-already-running/

I do not have Windows controlled folder access on.

I deleted an old antivirus (McAfee) and allowed sims 4 on public and private on Windows Defense Firewall.

I edited permissions. The instructions did not quite match my laptop, but I’m sure I did it.

after this i uninstalled and reinstalled sims 4 and that just gave me more errors and ea app crashing. now it is still saying sims is running. There is no error code it just shows me the red triangle w the exclamation point and says sims 4 is already running, it’s a good one.

  • @peepthecat  Please uninstall the EA App with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine), and restart your computer before reinstalling.  The EA App isn't usually the cause of this particular error, but it's best to address any potential complicating factors.

If OneDrive is running on your computer, whether you use it or not, please pause syncing before trying to play.  You can see the option by right-clicking the cloud icon in the lower-right corner of the screen.

If that doesn't help, please create a new admin Windows account and try playing in that.  Make it local, as in, don't use your Microsoft login.  You'll be able to (try to) launch Sims 4 without reinstalling anything, but your saves and other user data won't be available.  That's fine for the purposes of this test.

Thank you so much! I’m not sure which was the issue but after uninstalling with Revo and pausing OneDrive syncing it worked! Thank you!
