This method worked for me: Go up to top left hand corner, click go offline, then click go online and it fixed for me.
So I haven't played sims 4 regularly for a while.
today, i got an inspiration to play again, so i log into my EA account and notice there is an update required. Not unusual right?

I clicked the update button and it showed everything, like the update loading, and the "Sims 4 is ready to launch!" thing. But when i went to open the game, it still showed the same thing.
I didn't think this was unusual at first, maybe there was more than one update, so i tried again. And a third time. And some more. It still doesn't work. Help?
@theowlgang I've merged your post with another thread for this issue. Please try the suggestions in this thread, namely going offline and online again in the EA App, and clearing the App's cache and restarting your computer.
