I played sims last night and everything was okay but since about 8am this morning i can't launch the game. I've tried everything, I've removed my mods folder, cleared cache, reinstalled EA app, and nothing works. The game still won't launch. It says preparing game and then just reloads the EA app.
Mine has been doing pretty much the same, I've tried everything and at this point the EA app won't even repair the game. I'm at a loss.
marybarbour19 As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder. Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop. If it copies instead of moving, or you get an error when trying to move it, stop here and let me know.
Otherwise, when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content. (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.) Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs, that is if you can get that far.
If you still can't play, please provide a dxdiag. Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop. From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
