EA App's offline mode causes FPS to drop upon opening the game

I updated my game to 1.102.190.1030 a couple weeks ago and whenever I open the game in offline mode, the FPS never exceeds 30. This leaves me no choice but to play the game in online mode in order to avoid the FPS drop. I've already removed the entire Sims 4 folder inside Electronic Arts, let the game generate a new one, and even reinstalled the game but unfortunately, none of them seem to work.

I've attached the link to the screen-record showing the issue below. Please focus on the bottom left corner as I used the FPS cheat.

@puzzlezaddict I'm writing this reply prior to the new patch and I've finally found the culprit. It's the Online Social Features Access under the Other tab. The FPS went back up immediately after I disabled it.

Thank you very much for all the help ♡

@DrNetman  I've merged your post with the master thread for the Online Social Features setting tanking in-game framerates.  The only fix for now is to leave it disabled, although when this was first reported, it was only a problem when the EA App was in offline mode.  So if you're putting the App offline before playing, leave it online for now, at least when you want to be able to use the social features.

The dxdiag may well be helpful for those investigating the issue on the EA side, so thanks for providing it.

Ok for that but the other problem is the trait that i bought all of them but they are rebyable i know that many other users have the same problem and EA never fixed it after the new kit packs

  • Hi for the life of me I cannot get my sims 4 to play at anything over 20fps. I have tried multiple tips and tricks that I saw on here and nothing seems to work. I have even lowered the quality all the way down to low. I can play other games on this PC at 60fps at the highest quality. Please help me fix this game. I have attached my DxDiag.

    Here are my pc specs.
    Intel(R) Core i5-7400 3.00GHz
    16gb ram
    NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1060 6gb

    Monitor
    Dell s2716DG

@Cheesecake_1727  Try disabling Online Social Features, under Options > Game Options > Other.

If that doesn't help, try playing with your computer completely offline.  You can sign into the EA App and put it in offline mode, then disconnect from the internet before pressing Play.

  • Just wanted to add to this thread that for the last april 2024 patch (the two kits urban something and party somnething lol) i was struggling with this issue AGAIN after having fixed it by disabling the online services setting (which solved it immaculately last time honestly the sims team needs to stop this problem?) but after removing billions of mods and getting no improvement whatsoever and doing the disabling of online thingy again it didn't work, but the reason it didn't work was that you have to disable "autoreconnect" as well. It took me billions of tries and restartups before i finally got it to work this time around so if anyone is trying and trying to use this solution and its not working try to make sure to enable, disable the autoreconnect, then disable. It wasn't until then that it worked for me and i wasted TWO WHOLE DAYS trying stuff to fix my fps until this, this is something that should NOT keep happening and is barely mentioned in the sims community but really severely affects gameplay
