Echo
I have loaded into the game twice now and there is a persistent echo whenever my sim performs an action. The sound effect they create, as well as system notifications all echo 3 or 4 times. The music...
I am having the same issue. I have repaired the game, uninstalled and reinstalled the game, uninstalled and reinstalled Origin. I have checked my own speakers/sound devices on my computer, I have tried turning off Neighborhood stories, playing in windowed mode. I also don't have any mods or cc in my game. I have even tried taking out all my saved games and started fresh with a brand new save. Nothing has stopped this echoing. It is very annoying to the point I now play with the sound off so I don't have to hear it. I hope they come up with a fix for this soon.
@Simsational_CJ Have you tested with a different sound output device, for example headphones? Even if you don't like using them normally, it would be helpful to know whether that made a difference.
Please also run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

I have tried using my headphones and I'm still having the same issue. It is a glitch in the game and it only happens on the Sims 4.
@Simsational_CJ Your dxdiag lists a number of errors with the driver for your graphics chip. This can sometimes interfere with the sound output, but regardless, it should still be addressed. Try installing the newest driver for your processor and graphics chip:
You want the recommended (WHQL) driver, not the newer optional one. Restart after installing the driver and before trying to play.
If that doesn't help, update your sound drivers as well; your current Realtek driver is from 2018. Hit Windows key-X, select the Device Manager, expand the Audio section, click on each entry in turn, and click the black and green Update button in the menu. Repeat for every entry in the Sound category. Not all devices will have driver updates, and that's fine; the point is to make Windows look for new ones. Restart when you're done.
Okay, thank you I will do that and let you know if it works. Every time I try to update anything in my computer it always says it's all up to date so I had no idea. Thank you!
@puzzlezaddict I did everything you suggested and it did not fix the echo. In fact, I have a question...If this echo had anything to do with my speakers, my graphic card, my drivers, anything with my computer, then why does this only happen with the Sims 4? I play the Sims 2 and 3 and every other game I play, listen to music, watch videos, have zoom meetings, etc. with no echo. If it's my computer, why does this echo only occur while playing the Sims 4? I don't know if you can answer that question but if you have an answer or can find one, that would be great! LOL. Thank you for all the suggestions you've already given me. I do appreciate any and all help with this.
@Simsational_CJ Each application can use a different combination of resources and program sounds in a slightly different way. So it's not uncommon for an issue to appear only in one game. Since this echo is an unusual problem and only rarely reported in Sims 4, it's not purely a game issue, although it's certainly possible that the game doesn't work well with a particular driver.
One other suggestion I have is disabling Windows Sonic if you currently have it enabled. Right-click on the volume icon in the lower-right corner of your screen and hover over Spatial sound to see the option. If you happen to see a different option enabled, please disable that too.
The only other suggestion I have is to open the sound settings, accessible through the same right-click menu, and mess with a few settings there. For example, click Sound Control Panel and make sure your preferred device is set as default, and if that doesn't help, change the default to something else you can test with. Under Manage sound devices, you can try disabling all but the one device you're using. And you can try the Troubleshoot button, although that doesn't always find existing issues.
After making any change, be sure to restart your computer before testing.
@puzzlezaddict Okay, I have tried everything and nothing has fixed this issue. But then, last night I was watching a lilsimsie Youtube video of her playing The Sims 4 and she had the same issue!! I am convinced that this is a glitch in the game. But I just wanted to thank you for all of your suggestions. I wish something would have fixed it but hopefully the Sims 4 team will address this issue soon.
