Enquiry if to get a new laptop or not

Hello just a question, basically the laptop I have currently got is a ( HP OMEN 15 gaming laptop ) SPECIFICATIONS (

Operating System: Windows 10

Processor: Intel Core i5 6300HQ with GTX 965M 4GB VRAM

RAM: 8GB

SSD: 128GB

HDD: 1TB

Screen: 15.6 inch Full HD )

I am just enquiring weather or not it will be worth me getting a new laptop around Christmas for myself, I play the sims just fine but lately the laptop seems to be really loading slowly in between households of the Sims 4 and its literally all I use or have downloaded on my laptop. ( I absolutely love the sims ) any recommendations or advice would be great, I have literally sat here for 30 min so far just for it to place a house out of the gallery & wondering if it’s the laptop itself. The laptop isn’t all bad but some days it really does lag now I do have 20,000 mods they are all completely up to date I also have the (better expectations mod downloaded so it scans all my mods to make sure they are all up to date and also the MODGUARD. Anyway I’ll stop going on I am hoping I have put everything into the message correctly.

  • @BaybiEls  A new entry-level gaming laptop would run Sims 4 significantly better than your current one.  Whether it's "worth" buying a new one is really your call: does a smoother game with shorter loading times justify spending somewhere in the $700-850 U.S. range, or a bit more in other countries?  It's really an individual decision.

If you do decide to get a new laptop at some point, feel free to come back for advice, whether it's a second opinion on whatever you've already picked out or a list of good options or a description of what hardware to look for.  I'll be around.

  • What pc or laptop would you recommended to run the sims 4 smoothly without crashes & can handle mods?

@BaybiEls  I've merged your new post with your previous thread on the subject.  Please stick to one thread for this question, either in PC tech (this thread) if you'd like a Windows PC or your thread in the Mac tech forum if you'd prefer a Mac.

Please take some time and decide whether you want a Mac or a Windows PC, whether you want a laptop or desktop, and how much money you're willing to spend.  When you know the answer to these questions, AND you're ready to buy immediately, come back to whichever thread is relevant and ask for further help.  There's no point in having this discussion if you don't know what you want in general terms, or if you're not ready to make a purchase, because options and prices can change very quickly on the Windows side of the market.

Hello again!! I really do apologise I am not what so ever technology savvy! I wished I was but that is why I am asking for help I don’t know we’re to go or what to do. I was going to buy a iMac in pink the M4 but it’s seems that is out the window as I got told it’s not great but yet says on the site good for gaming so I’m just left with one big fat question mark 😂 I have been looking on “very” if you know that site?

@BaybiEls  Who said the M4 Mac isn't good for Sims 4?  It won't run games that don't have a Mac version, but Sims 4 does have a reasonably-good Mac version that runs well even on the M1 chip.

If you're referring to your thread in the Mac tech section, that was mostly about comparing iMacs with other Macs.  It's true that an iMac can have lower specs than other options, but the question is not about the comparison so much as how the hardware would run Sims 4.

Please decide whether you want a Mac or a Windows PC, and how much you want to spend.  If you have specific computers you're considering, feel free to link them.
