@doublethoughts Are you playing on a PC? If so - Please attach the .txt file from running dxdiag. Are you using the EA app? PC users no longer use Origin - you must install and use the EA app. First thing to check is Windows 10 up to date? When you reinstalled the game did you uninstall it first? Move the user game data from your user Documents folder/Electronic Ats/The Sims 4. Do you have the Sims 4 demo installed?
@doublethoughts Is there a Sims 4 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts? If so, please move it to the desktop. If it copies rather than moving, or you get an error, please stop here and let me know. Otherwise, try again to play.
If that doesn't help, or there is no Sims 4 folder present, please let me know what antivirus you use. Please also post the location where the game is currently installed. Open the EA App game library, click Sims 4, select Manage > View properties, and you'll see it there:
