Ever since the recent update, the game always crashes

So ever since the update for the Sims 4 a week or two ago, it's been completely unplayable. After the latest update (i play through steam which updates automatically) my game would open to the main menu, and then crash right after attempting to open my main save. This happened regardless of whether my mods and CC were on or off.

After turning off CC and script mods, exiting the game, moving my saves to the desktop, re-opening the game, turning back on the mods, exiting, moving my saves back, and opening the game again, then i can open my main save again without crashing. It opens to the map. But once I select a household to play, the game crashes again, every time.

I don't have any tattoos or mermaids in my game. I bought the Seasons and Discover University expansion pack during this time, but that hasn't seemed to have any affect on the problem. Don't know if that's worth mentioning or not. I have no other expansions.

  • I did the "recover save" option for my save and everything is working normally so far! Idk if it is just because of the recovering the save, or if updating my graphics driver and doing the previously mentioned stuff with my save files did anything.

  • I've just updated my AMD graphics driver, and the game still crashes at the same point. Someone please help!

I think we are in the same situation...I just updated everything too, graphics driver too. I've narrowed mine down to a specific save file that doesn't load. Interestingly enough it was the one save file that had the option to "recover save" in the load menu. I clicked "recover" & it duplicated the save under a slightly different save name but still crashed.

What in the world? After reading this I tried to recover my save file and my save didn't crash, it opened like normal! I'll play for a bit and see if it stays running normally.

Been playing for 15 minutes and it's running completely normally! I'm kind of bewildered at the "recover save" being the answer, since I haven't seen anything about that working for anyone else. No idea if the things I've done before in combination with recovering the save has fixed the problem? Any luck on your end?

Wow that's great! Still no luck on my end unfortunately.
