Failure to Launch from EA App after For Rent purchase

Hi there! I currently have an issue where my game fails to launch from the EA app, and this is after updating drivers, repairing the game and the launcher, uninstalling and reinstalling the app and the game, and restarting my computer in between, just to be sure. I've also tried running various things as admin, etc. At this point, I'm at a loss - can anyone offer some guidance or possible solutions?? Thank you!!

if relevant: when I was trying to purchase the new For Rent pack, the app stayed dark (like it should have shown a pop-up) for a very long time, until I forced it to quit. It also looked like the app charged me twice for the pack, but for two different prices? SO I'm not sure if that's the root of the problem, but I cannot figure it out.

Thank you for any possible help or advice!

  • @R1SSAR00  Thanks for the info and the dxdiag, which shows that Sims 4 is crashing due to a fault with a component of Windows.  This resource is very unlikely to be corrupted—it's much more probable that the issue is Sims 4 itself—but please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

The EA App also crashed at least once, so please uninstall it with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine).  Download a fresh copy of the installer, and restart your computer before reinstalling.  Then repair the game: open your game library, click Sims 4, and select Manage > Repair.

  • Did you get your game to work? I am having the exact same issue. Even the 2 app looking like it charged me twice! (different prices)

@jjsmack84  You'll need to contact EA customer support about the double purchase.

For the rest, please describe your issue in your own words.  Several current issues are similar but not identical.  Please also test without any mods or custom content at all, if you haven't already.

@jjsmack84  I'm confused.  It sounded like you were asking the original poster if they'd managed to fix their game.  Are you saying you're the original poster too?  If so, did you try the suggestions in post 2?

If you're not the original poster, please let me know exactly what happens when you try to launch Sims 4.
