I did attempt to remove save files, as suggested. When I opened the game, I received the message that
the save game I was attempting to load was saved with a newer version of the sims 4 than is currently installed. The main menu looks just as it has since the latest update, so I'm not sure what that's about. This message continues to display even after I returned the files to their original location.
Another clue! When I attempted to compress the file, per your suggestion, I was unable to do so. I received an error message that "file not found or no read permission."
The file name displaying when that happened is 0xe5ee7f03!0x000501b83abc1195.hhi
Yeah, but would you share your saves with me so I can try if I find a solution ?

I would be willing and grateful for you to have them to take a look. However, I can't compress them. The error message described above happened during the compression attempt and no compressed file was created.

Sorry, misread that,
What folder is that file in ? The scrap one ? If so, I don't really need those, just zip the actual top level files in the saves folder (not the scrap or the other folder)
