First person and sims 3 camera not working

I recently noticed that I can’t get the hot keys to switch to sims 3 camera (cont shift tab) or the first person (shift tab) to work anymore. I was in build mode trying to get the sims 3 camera so I could get something on the wall and pressing the keys did nothing. Later on I tried to go in first person in live mode and pressing the keys just entered tab (free camera) mode. What happened, why isn’t this working for me anymore?? My game is up to date and I’ve repaired, no change.

  • @AL40491  Does the Sims 3 camera work if you select it in the upper-right corner of the screen?  I'm wondering whether the problem is the keys don't work or the camera won't switch.

If you play in fullscreen mode, please try in windowed mode instead.  If that doesn't help, shut down any apps that come with overlays: Steam, Discord, etc.  Disable the EA App in-game overlay too, under Settings > Application.

Thank you for your response. Yes I can switch to Sims 3 camera using the option in the top right. So that’s a work around but I miss using the keys. Still doesn’t help me use first person cam though. I tried windowed mode like you suggested, no change. I don’t have any other apps running while I play except for the ea app and I couldn’t find the “in game overlay” setting you mentioned. Is it “enable background services”?

  • @AL40491  No, there's a separate setting called In-game Overlay.  You have to scroll down to see it though.

If that doesn't help, please try playing in a clean boot, to disable most other background services that might be interfering.  Here's how:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows-da2f9573-6eec-00ad-2f8a-a97a1807f3dd

The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run.  Disable the rest as described.

When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to RGB software might still be enabled.  If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.

Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window.

Hi. I’ve looked through the entirety of the EA apps settings, there’s nothing called “in game overlay”. Also I should’ve mentioned I’m on Mac, so that clean boot link doesn’t help in my case…
