Over the past few days I've been talking directly to Crinrict but I figured I'd post whatever I can here in case it helps.
- Do you have this issue only on a particular save game or on all of them? A little of both. Sometimes I can load game and it works, but if I attempt to go back to that save after loading a corrupted one, it no longer works.
- Can you start a new game for testing purposes ok? I have wiped everything clean and started a new game and it was fine, but I didn't find it worth playing for a long duration as I'm a legacy player and not interested in starting over.
- Do the backups of the saves work? I have backed up after my first time not being able to access my famiy (returning to the neighborhood screen), and some of the backup's worked, some didn't.
- If they do, do they corrupt after a while too? Yes, always. I have had some games corrupt even without showing any signs of in game issues, like the cooking bug for example. They work perfectly fine, then the next day, they no longer load.
- Do you have any lastexception.txt files in documents\electronicarts\thesims4\? Already given to Crinrict, who forwarded it to EA.
- If you are also willing to share your save games, please also zip them up and upload. Already given to Crinrict, who forwarded it to EA.
- Have you been switching families or played one? I mainly play one but switch around to different families to maintain story progression.
- Do you remember what careers/aspiration the Sims in your household were in? My main household sim was in the Writer career and Romance aspiration, and her man was Comedian career with Jokster aspiration.
- Are there children/teens in your family? One child, one baby.
- If you started a new game and had this issue, did you put in an older Sims family or completly start over from scratch? As said above, I have wiped everything clean and started a new game and it was fine, but I didn't find it worth playing for a long duration as I'm a legacy player and not interested in starting overn
- Anything else you think important? CC does not matter. Removing the mods folder does nothing. With my first issue with the game (cooking bug and family not loading) nothing worked to correct it. Not deleting cache, nor repairing, nor resetting the Sims 4 folder. I had to completely reinstall to play my game. The game worked with no issues until I closed it and tried to reopen it the next day, then my family would not load. When it would not load the next day, I reinstalled the game again. That time it did not correct the issue, I still could not play my family. A couple days later I ran CCleaner, diskcleaner, defragged, reset the game folder, repaired the game... then was able to load my 3rd latest save. I tried to load my most recent (not auto-save) and then could no longer load any saves after that.
Hope some of that helps.
