Furniture has glitched texture, sims copying eachother, and more problems.

Hey so I've been having some weird problems ever since I updated The Sims 4.

First of all, Origin started out of nowhere after updating, when I opened it, it immediately closed on its own and kept doing that for about two months. I kept trying to fix the problem, I reset origin, troubleshooted it, uninstalled and reinstalled it, and then finally even after I tried reinstalling Origin, I decided to try it again and it started working fine. So I was really happy and thankful about that.

Second, when I tried to play the game it started acting all weird. The first time I launched it and played with one of my households, it was acting strange. The first thing I noticed was that when I tried to check one of my sims' needs, the needs bar was completely gone. Just disappeared. I couldn't see any of their needs. The second thing I realized was that the sims kept mirroring each others' actions. Like, I would make one sim for example, go to sleep and I would click on the other one and they would have the same action. If I made one sim wash the dishes, the other sim would have that action in their queue, but they would never actually perform the action. I tried to click the action to make it go away, but it stays there and they never perform that action. The last thing I noticed was, the next day in game, I had my sims all ready to go out to the museum. I went to the map, clicked on the museum location and when the game was finished loading, I couldn't see anything. None of the menus were there, there were no mood portraits, I couldn't see anything. It was like when you go into cinematic mode by pressing tab. I tried pressing tab and nothing changed. I ended up having to force quit the game.

Then another real life day went by and I wanted to try to play again. I started up the game and it took about ten minutes to load and was SUPER laggy. It was almost impossible to play it, so I called it quits.

Today, I decided that maybe unistalling and reinstalling the Sims 4 would help and maybe change some things. So I did that and it was working way better at first. But when I went into a different household, everything was the same as when I played the first day, but it was a lot worse.

First, I noticed that some of the furniture was all glitched out. It had a weird pattern/texture with brown and tan and yellow and some white distorted shapes and it was only some furniture items. When I hovered my mouse over those pieces of furniture, they would have their normal pattern again but when I took my mouse off, it went back to the weird pattern. Another thing I saw was that my sims had blonde streaks in their hair and this wasn't the first time I had that problem. I simply turned off laptop mode and it was solved. The other thing I saw was that their mood portraits disappeared and their moodlets were there, but I couldn't see the icons and the mood colors were there as well. I decided to go into create-a-sim to see if anything had changed. Everything was thankfully all good. I did the same for build mode and everything was normal. I tried getting new furniture to replace the new ones, but they had the same pattern. After I came out of build mode, all the menus were gone like last time. I had to force quit the game. I also saw that they were also doing some of the stuff that happened last time like their needs bars were gone, they were copying each others' actions, etc. Another weird thing was my game was running perfectly with no lag, which it never does. Its usually at least a little laggy with a couple of lag spikes. Also, the pajamas my mother sim was wearing had a weird texture. The trim of the pajamas are lacy black but they looked like they weren't laced.

Right now I really just want to focus on playing my game normally again. Please help!

Do you have any Mods or CC? If so move your Mods folder to the Desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. Then test the game.

If it works now check for updates to your Mods and CC. Add it back a little at a time while testing until you have found all that are broken.

  • I actually solved the problem with the furniture and I checked the options and laptop mode was actually checked when I thought it wasn't. I turned it off, restarted the game and they went back to normal. Anyway, I will try what you said and get back to you in a bit since I do have mods installed.
