Gallery - Could not locate this item

Dear technical support,

I cannot use any items from the online galleries in The Sims 4. The local "My Library" is the only part of the Gallery that works as it should.

The items in the Community and personal ("Username") parts of the Gallery are all not visible. There are tiles with an orange-red cross on it. The tiles are clickable, but then you'll get the message "Could not locate this item". (see attached screenshot)

Things I've tried so far... (but didn't help)

- restarting the game

- restarting the computer

- verifying the game from the Steam client

- renaming the Sims folders in the My Documents folder (to *.OLD)

- uninstalling and re-installing the game

- deleting the Sims folder in the My Documents folder

Some additional information...

- I'm running the game on a brand new laptop.

- All other applications are working just fine.

- I did not use any cheats on this installment.

- I'm not using any Mods or Custom Content.

I think it's a cloud issue.

Please help!

Thanks,

MicMokum

    Hi,

I had the exact same problem, however I didn't know how to allow Origin through antivirus (which is the same as yours, Panda, 2016)

However, if you go on Antivirus and scroll down to EXCLUSIONS, there will be a box with the heading "files and folders."  Choose origin and it should allow it. Hope it works 🙂

@BlackjackWidow  so after near 24 hours of trying to find a solution... I have indeed found the mod at fault for why I could not save the house, as well as other performance  MizoreYukii's "no fade on everything" mod was to blame for all of it. Just in case anyone else has this problem. I am taking my now well-deserved break and finding something to eat, haha thanks 🙂

@Abradley745 - I am so happy to hear that you found the mod causing the problem, and can now save your lot!

A favor, if you would edit your post to remove the link to the mod and just name it, it might be helpful for others with the same issue. Links to mods are not allowed on the forum. You can just say No Fade on Everything and credit the author, but you can't link directly to it.

Enjoy your game & your dinner 🙂

    Hi,

I am also currently having the "could not locate item" glitch on the gallery.

    I have tried:

    -Repairing the game.

-Deleting the whole sims 4 folder.

    -Clearing cache folder

    -Removing mods

    -Restarting computer

    - deleting the options thing.

Even when I deleted the sims 4 folder, I tried opening the gallery and still it had all red x's across everything.

Oddly enough, It randomly worked one day, out of the blue, but then it went back to not working again.

I am not sure what could be the cause of it. Is there anything else I can try?

  • I have avast and windows defender. I turned off the firewalls to see if it would help and it still didn't work

  • Yep. That was the problem! I uninstalled Avast and it worked! Crazy because I turned off the firewall through Avast, and it didn't work, but then when I fully uninstalled it, it worked. Thanks for the help!
