Game Completely Unplayable after 9/18/2024 Update

Can confirm for me that the issue was that the lot was set to "Off The Grid."  So, if you want to play the household:

You can go into the lot via build mode.

Remove the grid challenge.

You should be able to load in then.

I've been having the same problem. My screen won't leave from the loading screen. I've removed mods/cc, updated the game, repaired the game, uninstalled and reinstalled and still nothing.

Thanks again! The graphics setting seemed to be the issue for me. Hopefully that’s the only issue. But I can now get into my saved lot.

@josephwastaken  Glad to hear you found a fix.  If you want, you could try bulldozing the lot now, then reverting the graphics setting(s) you changed.

@cocoawhirl  The Sims 4 in DX11-mode errors in your dxdiag are pretty generic: they could be related to the graphics driver or an in-game bug or anything in between.  First, please make sure Sims 4 is actually using your Nvidia card.  You'll see it listed in Config.log, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, under Graphics Device Info.  If the AMD GPU is listed instead, let me know.

If that's not the issue, try setting your laptop screen to run at a lower refresh rate, e.g. 120 or 144 Hz.  The option is under Windows Settings > System > Display, I believe under Advanced.  This is just a test; I'm not saying you can't use the maximum 300 Hz refresh rate at all, only that it's easy to try a lower one.

@cnobregonn  As mentioned, please remove Off the Grid or any other lot challenges applied to your lots.  If that doesn't help, please let me know whether you can load a new save, or different (unplayed) households within your existing saves.

about CC walls not being loadable, yeah, I found that. Just made up some wall CC, and there was nothing I could do to make either my short walls or tall walls load properly, only medium seemed to work. I noticed other changes for cc that happened after this update for object cc as well, but was able to make those work. 
I'll be pretty annoyed if these changes makes it so I can't use my cc walls any more, but guess that's the gamble we take. 

@VioletKitty411 Glad to hear it's fixed, and I'm sorry you had to go through that entire process.  I guess we didn't know that Off the Grid was an issue when you first uninstalled.

For future reference, reinstalling is only rarely helpful or necessary.  A clean user folder takes care of most user-side issues, and a game repair addresses most problems that a reinstall would fix.  So hopefully you won't need to deal with another complete reinstall any time soon.
