Game Crash (12/2024)
Hi there! My game has been crashing after 10 minutes or so, sometimes even less if I go into CAS. This is a completely vanilla game right now. I've updated my drivers the best I know how and I've launched the game from multiple platforms (EA and Nvidia). I've also transferred my old sims folder to my desktop and let the game create a new folder, and still gotten crashes. Here is my dxdiag. Please help me solve this!!
@acjsjmj Thanks for testing the clean user folder and providing a dxdiag. The Sims 4 crashes in your dxdiag look like they're due to conflicting software. If you use ReShade or GShade, please remove it and repair the game (EA App > Sims 4 > Manage > Repair).
If that doesn't help, please uninstall any Razer apps you have: Synapse, Cortex, whatever you can find. It may be enough to reinstall them, but please test without any of them present.
If that doesn't help either, please try playing in a clean boot:
The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run. Disable the rest as described.
When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to RGB software might still be enabled. If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.
Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window.
The idea here is that, if this helps, you can selectively reenable services, perhaps in a 50/50 patten, until you find the one that's causing the crashes.
