@dukaslove Please try another clean folder: move your current Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game to spawn a new folder, don't add anything to it, not your old saves or any other files. This is just so we can start with a clean slate and separate issues with the old saves from issues with the game overall. Let me know what happens when you try to start a new save.
Please also run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

I still play Sims 3 and own all packs except Katy Perry, plus most of the Store content, so I understand having an attachment to a Sims game. It doesn't sound lame at all to me, or to the many many others who've spent just as much time with one version or another as you or I have.
When I did that before it said it didnt recognize my gamecard and then it had none of my games on there.
Did I do it wrong?

@dukaslove You probably did it correctly before, but I'd like you to do it again now just to be thorough. The unrecognized graphics card message is designed to appear the first time you launch the game with an unrecognized GPU, and only then. But the information that you've seen this warning is stored within a file in the Sims 4 user folder, so removing the folder means the game thinks you haven't seen the warning yet.
Saves are also stored in this user folder, so moving the folder means your saves won't load in-game. It doesn't damage the save files themselves though; it just keeps them out of play for the time being.
If you drag the Sims 4 folder to the desktop and get a warning that there's already a folder with the same name, cancel the move and rename the folder instead. This accomplishes the same thing: the game won't find the folder if it doesn't have the correct name.
- 2 years ago@puzzlezaddict If I am being completely honest, I am afraid to do this and I do not know how properly.

@dukaslove To move a folder, just click it and drag. To rename a folder, click on its name and type something else. It's really as simple as that.

Hello sorry for the late reply. I am going to try that right now. Once I am finished with that what should I do? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP. its been like three plus weeks of not playing. Im desperate. Thank you again.

@dukaslove If you move the Sims 4 folder, make sure it's moved and not just copied. If you rename it, make sure the rename sticks. Then try to play. None of your saves will load in-game, nor will any other content you have, but that's fine and is actually the point of the test.
Start a new save, play in live mode for a bit if you can, save your progress, and quit. Restart your computer and try to play the save again. Let me know how it goes.

Hi!!! I had given up and just let the holidays pass. Happy holidays to you and yours. Thank you for all your help. It has been at least a month since i've played. ☹️ I was wondering can we message individually so that I can explain things better its easier with direct message on here, if thats alright with you.

@dukaslove Using private messages makes troubleshooting more difficult because the PM conversations don't show as threads. So I'd have to jump around among several browser tabs to keep everything straight rather than having it all one one page in chronological order. If you want to share private information in a single PM, that's understandable and fine, but for the rest, please stick to this thread.
- 2 years ago@puzzlezaddict Hello, Zoe Here !! I am still having this same issue. I do not know how to fix my sims 4 save folders. If I go to play certain sims, or edit their house, or anything for certain save files itll crash and bring me back to EA home screen.... completely log me out of the game.

@dukaslove To be clear, this problem is limited to certain households and/or saves? If so, I'd suggest you post in the Sims 4 Game Issues forum:
https://answers.ea.com/t5/Game-Issues/bd-p/the-sims-4-game-issues-en
It's not that I don't want to help so much as I'm not nearly as good at fixing this kind of problem as others are. I'd suggest creating a new thread, rather than finding an existing one, and including in your post whether it helps to move any affected sims to a different lot. This helps distinguish between issues with the sims and with the lot. For the affected saves, see whether you can load a different household within that same save.
