I just noticed today that the game deleted a couple of my sims from the Library.
They are in my catalogue if you view the uploaded content on my ID page (aka the community gallery), but they're missing from the personal library. So essentially had I not uploaded them, I would no longer have them. I would have never deleted them myself. So far I've pinpointed 3 sims that are no longer in my Library. :-/

Can you remember if that Sims were made using Custom Content?

Were those Sims made with The Sims 4 CAS Demo?
