Game does not load a play button

Sims 4 was only playable for me for two days and I'm really getting frustrated. First I had the glitch where my households would not load. Once I found out that EA had released a patch fixing it, I updated my game and tried to play it, just to find an even worse glitch: The game loads fine only up until the screen where a play button SHOULD appear, but a play button never appears, leaving me completely unable to play the game in any way. I just see the Sims 4 logo and absolutely nothing else. No "Create a Family" button and no "Play" button. I hope someone can help me because I'm just so frustrated that this $60 game only worked the first two days I had it. Come on now, that's beyond ridiculous. 

Note: I'm not  tech-savvy so you'll have to be detailed in your explanation if you know how to help me. I have a Windows 8. I also don't care about keeping anything I had on the game since I was only able to play it for two days.
