@dschwett Does this also happen in the new Windows account you created? If so, try moving its location of Documents to a new folder you create just for this purpose. Since this is a secondary account, you won't break anything in your main account by moving Documents. Here's how:

If that doesn't help, please do a virus scan, described a little further down in that post. I'm not saying your computer definitely has a virus, only that it's worth investigating at this point given all the other steps you've tried so far.

I did a clean uninstall and got a new error message (attached). It claims Sims 4 is already running even when I completely clear Task Manager and close all open apps/try to start it from the desktop launcher instead of EA.

This is after restarting my computer and temporarily turning off the firewall/antivirus.
