Game freezes and crashes when I try to close pack reccomendations

I've been having this problem since the latest update. When I load up my game, there's a pop up on the main menu reccomending a pack that I don't have. When I try to click out, hit the X, the whole game freezes.

- I can't minimize, do Control Alt Delete so after waiting for a few minutes I have to do a force reboot.

-If I load up the game in windowed mode, it just freezes and closes by itself.

-I've also tried with origin disabled in game but it doesn't make a difference. When I restart my computer and try again, it loads fine.

-I've also tried clicking Buy Now, it will open the origin window fine in game, but again when I X out, it crashes

Any thoughts as to what's causing this?

  • @nerdyshoes  I have no idea what's causing this.  (And sorry for the late reply, by the way.)  Have you tried clearing Origin's cache yet?  If not, please do so now.

If that doesn't help, please move your entire Sims 4 user data folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.  Load to the Main Menu and see if the same problem occurs.  If it doesn't, you can copy the contents of the saves, Tray, and Mods folders from your old Sims 4 folder to your new one and pick up where you left off.

@idontmccall  You can try hitting Esc to see whether it helps.

If it doesn't, please create your own thread.  This one is somewhat old, and much has changed in the last three years.
