@nerdyshoes I have no idea what's causing this. (And sorry for the late reply, by the way.) Have you tried clearing Origin's cache yet? If not, please do so now.

If that doesn't help, please move your entire Sims 4 user data folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop. When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content. Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game. Load to the Main Menu and see if the same problem occurs. If it doesn't, you can copy the contents of the saves, Tray, and Mods folders from your old Sims 4 folder to your new one and pick up where you left off.

@idontmccall You can try hitting Esc to see whether it helps.
If it doesn't, please create your own thread. This one is somewhat old, and much has changed in the last three years.
